"The Salsero of the moment," Alex Matos, was born on Feb. 12th in Santo Domingo. From an early age, he showed his love for music, in fact at the age of 5 he was the lead singer of a small group of children in his neighborhood. In schools, where he studied, he was the attraction of Fridays, because he was brought in almost all classrooms to sing. Later, he almost forgot his dream, to study at the College... but his vocation had remained latent in his heart, to the point that he began writing songs in his spare time in the courtyards of the university and attended with great regularity the clubs, where there was the karaoke, where he could satisfy his great desire... singing!
His musical career began when his brother Huascar convinced him that his dream could become reality, and immediately he began studying voice and music with Marianela Sanchez, and the valuable support of a great arranger Sandy George. With Sandy, he released his first musical production “Ponte En Salsa” including ten songs, eight of which were unreleased, an adaptation of "Piel de Angel" and a tribute to one of the greatest Soneros of all times, Ismael Rivera.
In 2009, under the artistic and entrepreneurial direction of Juan Carlos Payan, he started recording the second musical production and the first single "Amor Por Internet," written by himself and sang along with the dominican rapper Vakero.
The career of Alex gave a positive steering knowing Maestro Victor Waill at the end of 2010, who decided to produce and arrange the various pieces of the great Dominican singer Anthony Rios. From this union, a new song was born “Si Entendieras”, that definitely gave him great popularity by placing it on top of the charts for the year 2011. With this song, he began international tours throughout the East coast of the United States and then in several European countries. Now, Alex promotes the song “Una Noche No Es Bastante", which is quickly loved by national and international audience.
In early 2012, he won the Casandra Award of the Dominican Republic as "Salsero of the Year" and the arranger Victor Waill won for the category "orchestrator, and / or arranger."
In January 2013, Alex releases his true premiere album under Planet Record's label, titled "El Salsero De Ahora".
