MAYKEL BLANCO Y SU SALSA MAYOR
Maykel Blanco Cuevas, was born on January 21st, 1982 in Havana (Cuba).
In 2005, he became director of the Salsa Mayor Orchestra where he poured his energy, creativity and musical talent, arriving to become only after a little while one of the most important band of Timba in Cuba and all over the world and to catch the interest of the audience for his espectacular live performances. As a matter of fact from this moment Maykel Blanco y Su Salsa Mayor crossed national boundary becoming the main attraction in many European countries, as the same Maikel said in one of his most popular hit “...es que me crié con la clave... songo, salsa, timba y guaguancó... “
This young musician, 30 years old is a proud inheritor of the richness of Cuban popular dance music, and his orchestra was described by specialized press “La Máquina Del Ritmo”.
In 2007 started with great success his first two international tours with concerts and festivals in Italy, France, Holland, Switzerland, Belgium and Luxemburg.
In 2008 he came back again to Europe with his latest Cd “Anda y Pégate”, released by Planet Records, where Maykel once more shaked the stage with the contagious rhytm of his Cuban music.
Following in 2010 Maykel released with Planet Records the album "Soy Lo Que Te Hala" confirming himself as the more interesting artist of Salsa/ Cuban Timba .
In 2011 for Maykel arrives his first live tour in the USA, where he played before a large audience, especially fans of world music and jazz.
In 2012, Maykel takes an amazing tour in Europe and Latin America, especially in Peru and Buenaventura (Colombia) where he played in front of 10,000 people. 2013: he finally releases the long-awaited new album, "A Toda Maquina" a production of timba, where Maykel continues on the musical line he pursues and in a few days of sales reaches the Top 60 on iTunes U.S. Tropical Album.In 2012, Maykel takes an amazing tour in Europe and Latin America, especially in Peru and Buenaventura (Colombia) where he played in front of 10,000 people.
