TEARS FOR FEARS

"Everybody Loves A Happy Ending" is the album of the Great Return and the Great Reunion of the two co-founders Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith, together again after 16 years, since the last album together: "Seeds Of Love "(1989). Tears For Fears are one of the biggest and best-loved groups before  MTV generation, and this new album is the witness of one of the most important "Reunion" in the history of World Pop Music.
"Everybody Loves A Happy Ending" is a collection of songs released to withstand over time, songs like "Closest Thing To Heaven", "Call Me Mellow" and "Who Killed Tangerine" are incredibly contemporary and aspires to become "classics" of Pop music.

The History

Orzabal and Smith climbed to the top of Olympus of pop music already with their debut album in 1983 called "The Hurting", a sophisticated collection of songs that included the electro-pop classic "Mad World", "Pale Shelter" and especially the worldwide hit  "Change". The British duo from Bath later released "Songs From The Big Chair" in 1985, one of the biggest best-seller album of all time, with 3 singles in the Top 5 in the U.S. and UK which catapulted definitely the duo in the elite of the Superstars.

Since that release, the band spent a long time on tour, promoting their new album around the world, it was a very interesting creative period that left its print on the group in the days ahead. In fact, when "Sowing The Seeds Of Love" was released four years later, immediately reached the Top 10 charts worldwide simultaneously. A joyous burst of Beatles melodic pop accompanied by an equally memorable video, rewarded the expectation of Fans all around the world.
But the crisis between the two founders had become tangible. After a charity show at Knebworth in June of 1990, Curt Smith left Tears For Fears and moved to New York .. " The thing is that we have achieved a huge success," says Smith, "... and this brings a certain pressure. I speak from personal experience, under pressure I am not very happy, not really. Leaving the group was caused by pure misery. It gave me no joy any longer. I crossed the failure of my marriage and then I met a person in America, my present wife, we fell in love and so I decided to move. I wanted to live in New York, I wanted to get away from England. The truth is that I personally wanted to start a new life and to do that, Tears For Fears could not be part of this equation. "
With Orzabal as only leader, Tears for Fears continued, releasing 3 more albums and doing international tours" Element "(1993)," Raoul And The Kings Of Spain "(1995)," and Saturnine Martial and Lunatic "(1996). Orzabal said that in 1996 he came to the point: "... It was in South America, we were playing in Colombia and we were traveling a lot, again in concert, like other hundreds of times, and I thought that it was enough."
Orzabal , who had two young children at home in Bath, decided to stop live tours, but also continue to work from home with music  based on the technology, so in 1999 he co-produced the album of Icelandic singer Emiliana Torrini. He then decided to release his first solo album "Tomcats Screaming Outside" a hit  in America, but it had just been released when everyone knows what happened on September 11, 2001. "Lucky moment lucky .." Orzabal says ironically.  In the meantime, Curt Smith was beginning to live his new life by releasing a new solo album "which I hated .." he says, he started a radio program "Syndicated college," and with a new musical partner, the guitarist and songwriter Charlton Pettus formed the group Mayfield "... I started to play in New York clubs and that was the best time of my life, because it was rekindling my love for music, and for the right reasons, you actually do it because you want to do, unlike TFF at the end of the '90s were just become a great business, the part that really I do not like. "
Even alone and out of the loop in the UK, says Roland Orzabal," every time I met record company’s managers, with any music, began their 'Oh, it's terrific! You can start together with Curt? 'The market constantly forced me and things like that. " Finally the inevitable happened, Curt and Roland met and things went well. "We had always had interests in common that allowed us to go forward even after the split of the TFF in the ‘90s," says Roland, "... we have friends in common, it was only a matter of time. And so we started talking and, well, what do we care? Let's see how it ends. "
It ended right in the heart of " Everybody Loves A Happy Ending ", a title which the duo could not do without, and which firmly reinforced their reunion. The situation was resolved, they tell, by the ease with which it was recorded "Closest Thing To Heaven" their first collaboration as songwriters in several years. "... This is one of those songs that is made in one day," says Curt, ".. since we started to play at the thought of finishing it, it was already done." Roland adds ".. and then I had not written songs like this for years."  Memorable melodies fill the songs on "Everybody Loves A Happy Ending", and those who felt the Beatles' influence in the last work of Roland and Curt, now they can listen here. "When we did 'Sowing The Seeds Of Love' we were doing Lennon," Roland says, ".. but the main influence of this album is McCartney" he grins.  Fresh, contemporary and beautifully colored, "Everybody Loves A Happy Ending" is Tears For Fears gift in the twenty-first century.

Produced by Tears For Fears and Charlton Pettus, the album was mixed by Tim Palmer, The Italian version of the album contains 14 tracks (two more than U.S version ). "Everybody Loves A Happy Ending", "Closet Thing To Heaven" , "Call Me Mellow", "Size of Sorrow", "Who Killed Tangerine", "Quiet Ones", "Who You Are", "The Devil", "Secret World", "Killing With Kindness", "Ladybird", "Last Days On Earth" and the 2 tracks in the Italian version which are "Pullin A Cloud" and "Out Of Control".
