The Ark, from Sweden, is one of the band that has sold more albums in recent years. Unforgettable their two previous superhits "Let Your Body Decide" and "It Takes a Fool to Remain Sane", finally released in September 2007 with Planet Records their new CD album "Prayer For The Weekend" anticipated by the single "The Worrying Kind" that is already platinum in Sweden. In October 2007 it was scheduled the Italian tour, with dates in Milan and Rome.
The Ark was formed in 1991 in Rottne, a small town of Sweden, thanks to Ola Salo (pianist, singer and main songwriter), Jepson (guitarist and singer), Leari (real name Lars Ljungberg, bass) and Martin Rosengardten (drummer). Ola, son of a preacher, was convinced that the apocalypse was close, often reading between the lines of the Book of Revelation and hence the decision to call the group The Ark. The band currently is stabilized with Ola Salo (singer), Jepson and Martin Axén at the guitars, Sylvester Schlegel (drums), Leari (bass) Jens Anderson (keyboards).
The Ark debuted in 1996 with an EP of 4 songs titled "Racing With The Rabbits", but his first big hit was in 2002 with the single "Let Your Body Decide" which became a hit immediately, climbing the Eurochart, followed by " It takes a Fool to Remain Sane ". In 2002 the album "We Are The Ark" was in the Italian Top 10 charts for 4 months. In the same year the band won several awards and the prestigious Swedish MTV Awards. In autumn 2002, it was released the album "In Lust We Trust", who consecrated the reputation of the group thanks to singles "Calleth you, Cometh I" and "Father of a Son," which incited even more focus on the issue of adoptions by homosexual pairs.
In 2004 the band changed musical direction with the album "State Of The Ark". The first single "One Of Us Is Gonna Die Young" flew into the top of the charts in Sweden and in other countries, and the album followed in the early weeks of 2005. Rolling Stone called the single "The glam meets the Abba ,in this single that represents a real breakthrough for the Scandinavian band".
In 2007, The Ark in Sweden released the song "The Worrying Kind" which won the Melodifestivalen on March 10, 2007 and Eurovision 2007 in Helsinki on May 12.
The Ark can boast millions of copies sold, making them one of the hottest bands of recent years, having participated to all the major continental events and Summer Festivals and climbed the charts worldwide.
