HUEY DUNBAR

Eustace Dunbar IV, aka Huey Dunbar, was born in New York on May 15th, 1974 by a Jamaican father and a Puerto Rican mother. From an early age, he discovered he had the gift of music and his mother supported his passion.

When he was studying in high schools, he had an audition set up by the producers Sergio George and Adam Torres and both were struck by the voice of the kid and took him under their protection. The great energy of Huey allowed him to learn to speak and sing in Spanish in two years, he studied Salsa and worked as a backing vocalist with singers such as Victor Manuelle, La India and Yolandita Monge.
When Sergio George considered him ready for the big music scene he created the DLG (Dark Latin Groove), a band formed by the union between Huey and the rappers James "Da 'Barba" de Jesus and Fragancia.

The first album "Dark Latin Groove" in 1996 offered an innovative salsa, mixed with reggae, hip-hop and house music and was an immediate smash hit, especially with the first single from the album "No Morirá" which remains on top of Billboard charts for six consecutive weeks and was even nominated for Grammy Awards.

In 1997, the second CD "Swing On", doubled the sales of the first album and got three times platinum in U.S.A but also proving very successful in Colombia, Costa Rica, Panama, Uruguay, Peru and Venezuela and was the song "La Quiero A Morir" to stay on top of the Billboard Tropical chart for many weeks.

In 1999, his third and latest album by DLG, "Gotcha!" was another success and was nominated for a Latin Grammy for best production and the band had a long tour while in 2000 the band broke up and Huey decided to pursue a solo career.
In 2001, he released his first solo album "Yo Si Me Enamoré", which does not betray the expectations and gets a good feedback, as well as the subsequent production of the 2003 "Music For My Peoples", where Huey sings both in English and Spanish, mixing R & B, hip-hop and various Caribbean rhythms.

In the following years, he worked with various artists including Fat Joe, Magic Juan, Nina Sky, Weynn Yan, and many others.
After seven years, in 2010, this artist once again returns to the music scene with the unmistakable vocal abilities and released his third solo album entitled "Huey Dunbar IV" and Planet Records produced this record for the European territory with a worldwide exclusive. Of course, as usual, this album immediately became a hit in the Latin Billboard charts with the single "Te Amaré" and was on heavy rotation in several radio stations... The return of "Soul" voice of the Caribbean islands, a real natural talent and the inventor of Urban Salsa!
