DJ MAM'S

Today, Zumba® starts invading the dancefloors and DJ Mam’s is the first French DJ to take over the Zumba® phenomenon and the only one able to use the trademarked word Zumba®.

His song “Zumba He Zumba Ha”, interpreted by Jessy Matador and Luis Guisao, stands as a latino-influenced piece with a touch of creole sounds and lots of positive vibes. DJ Mam’s played this song for the first time in July, 2010 in Orlando, Florida backing Beto Perez and his dancers during the annual Zumba® convention which gathered thousands of fans. In 2012 Jessy Matador has teamed up with Mam’s and Guisao to hit the dancefloors with his remix of “Zumba He Zumba Ha”.

Jessy Matador hailing from the Congo, started out in 2001 as a dancer and in 2005 formed a group he named "La Selesao". Their first single, Décalé Gwada, was an instant hit in the African, Jamaican and French Caribbean communities. A first videoclip was quickly shot, then YouTube and Dailymotion muscled in, giving it unheard-of outreach. It has to date been viewed by 32 million people and has spawned many home-made videos in which enthusiastic amateurs imitate the choreographer and the African New Style. The phenomenon was soon extended from the ethnic communities to a broader audience - the single Décalé Gwada reached the Top 10 for radio airplay - as well as beyond the French borders. After Mayotte, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Madagascar and Senegal, he went to the USA to introduce the African New Style with shows in Miami, Chicago and Boston, concurrently recording his first album Afrikan New Style.

About Zumba®: Sometimes great ideas are born from accidents. Beto Perez, Shakira’s choreographer, was a fitness instructor from Cali, Colombia. Beto's life took an unexpected turn one fateful day in the mid-'90s when he darted off to teach an aerobics class and forgot his traditional aerobics music. He improvised using his own mix of music from tapes he had in his backpack that he used to listen on his personal "walkman". Accidentally, he had just created a new phenomenon. Fifteen years later, the Zumba® program has became the world's largest – and most successful – dance-fitness program with more than 12 million people taking weekly Zumba® classes in over 125 countries. since Zumba® has been registered as a trademark in 2001.
